| Additional information |
Bahrain's Monetary Agency issued this piece to mark the third anniversary of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa's accession, which had taken place in 1975 following independence from British protection in 1971. The Agency itself had only been established in 1973, making this among the earliest gold issues struck under its authority.
The .917 fineness — traditional crown gold — was a deliberate choice for Gulf commemorative issues of this period, aligning with international bullion standards at a moment when oil revenues were reshaping the region's financial ambitions.
