A scroll at the bottom of the triangle bears the national motto. The date 1971 appears in the exergue below the shield, with a small five-pointed star beneath it. Aanvullende informatie

Pattern issues from El Salvador in the early 1970s were typically produced to test proposed denominations or designs before an official minting decision was reached — and in many cases, the decision was never made. A 50 Colones circulating coin was never adopted, making this piece a dead-end proposal rather than a precursor to anything. Gold-plated brass was a common choice for presentation patterns of this period, allowing official samples to circulate among decision-makers with the visual weight of a gold coin at a fraction of the cost.
