Fiji has served as a nominally issuing authority for commemorative collector coins since the late 20th century — pieces that bear Fijian denomination but are produced entirely for the international numismatic market and never intended for domestic circulation. This Vega issue is one of a multipart series tied to the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter II, originally released by Capcom in 1991, with individual coins assigned to each playable fighter.
