50 Cents Kgalagadi Transfrontier Peace Park

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, formalized in 2000, was the first official transfrontier conservation area in southern Africa — a cross-border agreement between South Africa and Botswana that absorbed the former Kalahari Gemsbok National Park on the South African side and Gemsbok National Park in Botswana. The "peace park" concept was championed by Anton Rupert and Nelson Mandela through the Peace Parks Foundation, established in 1997, with the broader ambition of eventually linking conservation areas across twelve southern African nations.
