Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, wearing the St. Edward's Crown, engraved by Percy Metcalfe. The king's bare neck and truncated bust are rendered in high relief with fine detail. The legend KING GEORGE THE SIXTH arcs around the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering. The field is smooth and unadorned, and the rim is defined by a beaded border.
