| Описание реверса | The reverse is a faithful colorized reproduction in deep blue of Canada's historic 1897 Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee fifty-cent postage stamp. At center, two oval medallion portraits of Queen Victoria face one another: the left medallion presents a youthful frontal-facing effigy of the Queen wearing a crown and jewels, representing 1837, while the right medallion shows a mature right-facing portrait of the Queen in profile, representing 1897. Between the medallions, a crowned royal cipher 'R I V' appears on a scepter motif flanked by ornate foliate scrollwork and maple leaf sprigs. The legends CANADA POSTAGE arc across the upper field, the dates 1837 and 1897 appear below each respective portrait, and FIFTY CENTS is inscribed within a rectangular cartouche at the base. |
