Issued following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, this is one of dozens of posthumous commemorative pieces struck by Pacific island nations whose mint contracts and commemorative programs continued uninterrupted through the transition period. The Solomon Islands, as a Commonwealth realm, retained the monarch on its coinage until formal arrangements for Charles III's effigy were finalized — a bureaucratic lag that produced a brief window of posthumous issues across multiple denominations.
