Reverse description The reverse features a full-color photographic likeness of actor Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007, dressed in a black suit and holding a pistol upright, occupying the right portion of the field. To the lower left, a vivid explosion rendered in yellow, orange, and red colorization provides a dramatic backdrop. In the upper left, a stylized gun barrel motif and abstract silhouettes appear in frosted relief against the mirrored field. The incuse legend 007 with the trademark gun barrel symbol appears in the mid-left field, and the title GOLDENEYE is inscribed in bold stylized lettering across the lower portion of the design, each element bearing trademark symbols.

Additional information

Part of Perth Mint's ongoing Australian Wildlife series, this issue draws on the goldeneye duck — a species not native to Australia, which is an odd choice for a program ostensibly celebrating Australian fauna. The goldeneye is a Holarctic bird, breeding across northern Europe, Asia, and North America.

Struck in .9999 fine silver at 15.553 g, these half-ounce bullion-adjacent pieces are legal tender at face value but exist entirely outside circulation. The 50-cent denomination is nominal — a formality required for legal tender status under Australian law.
