| Beschrijving keerzijde | Centrally depicted is a full-colour pad-printed Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) swimming diagonally across the field from lower left to upper right, rendered in naturalistic tones of brown, amber, and green with fine scute detailing on the carapace and scaled patterning on the flippers. The background is divided into two contrasting zones: a smooth white upper-left quadrant and a lower-right field decorated with concentric arc lines evoking ocean currents or coral reef topography. The series title AUSTRALIAN SEA LIFE II THE REEF is inscribed in relief along the upper left arc, with the word REEF rendered in bold large lettering. The pad-printing process used here — a technique borrowed from industrial product decoration — was adopted by the Perth Mint in the late 2000s to achieve full-color surface detail without the tonal limitations of traditional enameling. It remains prone to handling sensitivity, and examples with intact color uniformity across the shell patterning are harder to find than the mintage figures suggest.
