Ullastrell is a small village in the Vallès Occidental comarca of Catalonia — population well under a thousand even today. Like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 after the Republic's silver and copper coinage effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted within months of the July 1936 uprising. These local emissions, collectively catalogued under the broader *billetes municipales* framework, were purely practical stopgaps with no authority beyond the issuing township's borders.
Turró 2610 places this among the rarer village-level issues — small print runs, heavy local circulation, and no reason for anyone to preserve them.
