| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features a reproduction of a Spanish postage stamp affixed to a circular cardboard disc and enclosed within a perforated border typical of philatelic design. At the center of the stamp, a three-quarter-facing portrait bust of the celebrated Spanish painter Diego Velázquez is rendered in fine engraved lines. The legend REPUBLICA ESPAÑOLA arcs across the top of the stamp field, while the denomination 50 CTS and the word CORREOS appear at the base, flanking the portrait. The inscription FCNA. DE MONEDA Y TIMBRE is printed along the lower margin of the stamp, identifying the issuing authority. The shield is quartered with the traditional emblems of Castile and León — a castle and a rampant lion — alongside the arms of Aragon and Navarre, surmounted by a mural crown. The Pillars of Hercules flank the shield on either side, each bearing a ribbon with the motto PLUS to the left and ULTRA to the right. The design is printed in a single dark ink against the natural tan cardboard field, with no additional legend or decorative elements beyond the central device. |
