Opmerkingen

Aguaviva is a small municipality in the Teruel province of Aragon, and like hundreds of similarly sized Spanish towns during the Civil War, its municipal council issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 when Republican-zone coinage had effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. These local issues, collectively known as *moneda local de necesidad*, were produced under wartime improvisation and rarely circulated beyond the issuing town's immediate market.

The Gari Montllor catalogue remains the principal reference for Aragonese municipal issues, and the 19-A designation suggests at least one variety exists within the type — likely a paper stock or color distinction.
