Signature lines for the President of the Chambre de Commerce and the Treasurer appear to either side of the central vignette, with the denomination '50 Centimes' set in a bold ribbon cartouche at the top. |

Bolbec, a textile town in the Seine-Maritime, was among the hundreds of French provincial chambers of commerce authorized to issue small-denomination emergency currency after the wartime coin shortage proved stubbornly persistent well into the peace. The Chamber's notes were printed by Les Papeteries de Normandie — a paper mill operation rather than a specialist security printer — which was unusual even by the loose standards of the monnaie de nécessité issues. The watermark was the mill's own, repurposed as a security feature of convenience.
