| Obverse description | Central device depicting a balance scale (scales of justice) with two suspended pans, the beam supported by an ornate upright post with a decorative crosspiece and finial. The legend URUGUAY arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised lettering. Below the scales, a small mint assayer mark appears above the date 1976, positioned in the lower field. Uruguay's 1976 military government commissioned a series of pattern strikes as part of a broader currency reform effort following years of inflation that had gutted the purchasing power of the peso. This 50 centésimos piece was never adopted for circulation — the denomination itself was economically obsolete almost before the dies were finished.
KM# Pn10 is sparsely documented, and confirmed surviving examples are few.
