Comments

Bolivia's Tesorería de la República issued this note under treasury authority rather than through a central bank — a distinction that mattered considerably in 1902, when the country's banking sector was still fragmented among regional private banks following the monetary reforms of the 1890s. The Tesorería series filled a fractional gap that commercial banks had little incentive to serve.

ABNC's involvement was routine for the period; the company held long-standing contracts with numerous South American governments. What survives in reasonable condition tends to show foxing along the horizontal folds, a known characteristic of this series.
