| 裏面の説明 | Central device features the official logo of the Instituto Nacional de Turismo (INTUR), prominently displaying a stylized Royal Palm tree as its chief motif. The numeral 50 appears to the right of the central device, denoting the face value, while the issuing authority abbreviation INTUR is inscribed alongside. The legend CINCUENTA CENTAVOS is inscribed along the lower portion of the field, spelling out the denomination in full. The design is restrained and functional, consistent with the series of INTUR visitor coinage issued for Cuba's tourist economy. |

INTUR, Cuba's state tourism agency, operated a parallel currency system designed to extract hard currency from foreign visitors while keeping them financially isolated from the peso economy. These coins circulated exclusively within tourist-designated hotels, shops, and restaurants — Cubans holding them faced serious legal risk. The system ran from the early 1980s until 1989, when INTUR itself was dissolved and its functions absorbed into other state bodies, making this 50 Centavos one of the final issues before the whole apparatus was dismantled.
