| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device depicts the Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the crowned shield of Portugal, the composite arms quartering the five bezants of Portugal with the Angolan ox passant in the dexter chief. The shield is superimposed upon a globe rendered with horizontal bands and meridian lines, symbolising the Portuguese overseas empire. The circumferential legend reads COLONIA DE ANGOLA in raised Latin letters separated by pellets, and the date appears in the lower field between two small ornamental stops. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner border. |
