The Mindanao Emergency Currency Board was one of several provincial bodies authorized to produce guerrilla currency during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. These notes were issued under extraordinarily difficult conditions — printed on whatever paper was available, often in jungle locations, to support both civilian commerce and resistance operations against Japanese forces.
Mindanao guerrilla issues are among the more documented of the Philippine emergency series, but survival rates vary sharply by denomination and print run. The 50 Centavos denomination circulated actively at the village level and took proportionally more wear than higher-value notes, which were more carefully handled.
