| Comments |
Argentina's Caja de Conversión was a currency board established in 1890 following the Baring Crisis, designed to maintain a fixed exchange rate by backing notes strictly with gold reserves. The 50 Centavos fractional notes of this series filled a persistent gap in small-denomination circulation that coins alone couldn't adequately cover during the early 1920s.
P#242A is the less common of two catalogue variants for this issue, distinguished by serial number and signature combinations rather than any visual difference visible to the casual eye.
