Vorderseitenbeschreibung The obverse is printed in brown on pale paper and bears a circular vignette at left with a female bust in profile wearing a classical headdress, set within a guilloche-bordered oval frame with the arc inscription PROVINCIA DE MENDOZA. The central field carries the bold letterpress legend LETRA DE TESORERIA above CINCUENTA CENTAVOS, with additional text stating LA PROVINCIA DE MENDOZA RECONOCE AL PORTADOR and a reference to Ley N.° 645, dated Mendoza, Diciembre de 1914. At lower right a small oval vignette shows the Argentine coat of arms within a wreath, the serial number 703177 and SERIE A appear twice at left, and facsimile signatures of the Ministro de Hacienda and the Director del Crédito Público are printed at bottom centre; the printer's imprint LIT. G. KRAFT, BIAIRES is present at the foot of the note.

Rückseitenbeschreibung The reverse is printed entirely in red-brown and relies on dense guilloche scrollwork filling the field, with the large numeral 50 repeated at left and right within ornate rosette frames. The central panel contains the text of Ley N.° 645, Diciembre de 1914, Article 4°, stating that these obligations will be received at their written value in all provincial public offices in payment of taxes and services and by the Banco Oficial in cancellation or amortisation of its credits. The word CENTAVOS appears in bold letters across the top centre, and the overall design is framed by a repeating geometric border with six-pointed star ornaments at the corners.

Anmerkungen

Mendoza's 1914 fractional notes were a provincial response to the acute small-change shortage that plagued Argentina in the early war years, as metallic coin disappeared from circulation almost immediately after European hostilities began driving up metal values. Several Argentine provinces issued their own low-denomination emergency paper during this period, and Mendoza was among the more active issuers.

Kraft's Buenos Aires lithographic house produced the note — a commercial printer rather than a specialist banknote firm, which shows in the relatively modest security features typical of the provincial emergency issues from this run.
