| Obverse description | Central device consists of the national coat of arms of Rwanda, featuring a shield decorated with a knot motif, flanked by a sprig of sorghum to the left and a branch of coffee to the right, with a sun above the shield and a knotted rope forming the base. The country name legend REPUBLIKA Y'U RWANDA arcs along the upper interior of the arms, while the motto UBUMWE - UMURIMO - GUKUNDA IGIHUGU appears on a ribbon at the base.
