The legend BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised lettering, identifying the issuing institution. The denomination AMAFARANGA 50 MIRONGO ITANU is inscribed along the lower field in two groups flanking the numeral 50. The design is rendered in a matte-finish relief against a smooth field, consistent with the bullion coin presentation of the African Ounce series.
