Rwanda has no historical connection to HMS Endeavour — this is a bullion and collector coin program exploiting the country's liberal licensing framework, which since the early 2000s has made the National Bank of Rwanda a favored issuing authority for European and Asian mint operators seeking a sovereign imprimatur with minimal regulatory friction. The actual striking was almost certainly contracted to a private mint, as is standard for this entire Rwandan commemorative series.
Endeavour's 1768–1771 voyage under Cook charted the eastern coastline of Australia and made first European contact with numerous Pacific Island communities. The ship was a converted collier — a Whitby-built bark — never designed for exploration at all.
