Obverse description The Khalq government arms — a wreath-encircled emblem surmounted by a star, with the Pashto inscription خلق (Khalq, meaning "The People") — appears at the top centre, set within an ornate dark-green guilloche border with arabesques and rosettes at each corner. The central field carries the promise text and denomination in Pashto script against a multicolour underprint of floral and geometric motifs, flanked by large stylised numeral "50" vignettes on each side. Two signature lines appear at the lower centre above an octagonal ornamental medallion, with the denomination "50 AFGHANIS" in a cartouche at the lower right.

Reverse description A central intaglio vignette presents the Dar-al-Aman Palace in Kabul, its neoclassical rotunda and colonnaded wings set amid trees, rendered in dark blue-green on a pale guilloche underprint with wave-pattern lathe work filling the field. Ornate scrollwork borders with arabesques frame the design on all sides, with the denomination numeral "٥٠ افغانى" in Pashto script at the left and the Arabic numeral "50 AFGHANIS" in a cartouche at the lower right. The bank name "Da Afghanistan Bank" is inscribed in Latin script across the upper border panel.
