| Descrizione del dritto | Printed in brown and ochre on cream paper, the obverse is dominated by a central rectangular frame enclosing the denomination in bold Gothic blackletter script — '50 Millionen Mark' — over a lightly printed eagle underprint. Two ornamental ribbon banners arc across the top and bottom of the vignette, each bearing the issuer's name 'Landesbank der Rheinprovinz' flanked by foliate sprigs. Below the central frame, a three-line payment clause in Fraktur script names Düsseldorf and the date 15 September 1923, followed by a manuscript signature of the General Direktion. To the right, a vertical side panel repeats the denomination in letterpress, with a circular embossed seal of the Rheinprovinz bearing the Prussian eagle, and the series designation 'Reihe 7' printed in red-brown. |

The Landesbank der Rheinprovinz was among dozens of regional and municipal institutions authorized to issue notgeld during the hyperinflation crisis of 1923, as the Reichsbank's capacity to supply circulating currency collapsed entirely. By the time denominations reached eight figures, notes were often spent within hours of issue — holding paper overnight meant measurable purchasing loss by morning.
Düsseldorf-printed issues from this institution are reasonably well documented but not common in higher grades, as the frantic pace of circulation took its toll on paper quality quickly.
