Opmerkingen

Scheibenberg is a small mining town in the Erzgebirge, and like hundreds of German municipalities in late 1923, its local Stadtbank issued emergency Notgeld as the Reichsmark collapsed into hyperinflation. By the time fifty-million-mark denominations were necessary, the Reichsbank's own presses could not keep pace with demand, and municipalities, savings banks, and even private firms were authorized — or simply tolerated — as supplementary issuers.

Notes from minor Saxon issuers like this one were rarely saved in quantity; most were spent within days and physically worn out before stabilization came with the Rentenmark in November 1923.
