| Beschrijving keerzijde | Printed in salmon-pink and dark brown on cream paper, the reverse is enclosed within a bold ornamental border composed of repeated cross-hatch and crown motifs. A central vignette presents the rampant Palatinate lion in fine line-engraved style, set against a starburst guilloche background; the denomination numerals '50' appear in large outlined figures to the left and right of the lion. Repeated light underprint numerals '50' are scattered across the field, and the inscriptions 'NOTGELD KREISGEMEINDE PFALZ' and 'FÜNFZIG MILLIONEN MARK' run along the top and bottom borders respectively in block lettering. |

The Palatinate district was under French military occupation in 1923 when German hyperinflation peaked, which created an unusual administrative wrinkle: local authorities were issuing notgeld denominated in astronomical sums while simultaneously dealing with occupation currency controls. This note is part of that emergency municipal paper flood — denominations escalating weekly as the mark collapsed faster than new notes could be designed and printed.
Speyer-printed issues from the Kreisgemeinde Pfalz are regionally specific and generally saw shorter circulation windows than equivalent notgeld from unoccupied zones, as French authorities periodically disrupted or invalidated locally issued emergency currency.
