| Opmerkingen |
Dresden was one of dozens of German municipal authorities that printed their own emergency currency during the hyperinflation of 1923, when the Reichsbank simply could not supply notes fast enough to keep pace with collapsing purchasing power. A 50-billion-mark denomination sounds extraordinary, but by October–November 1923 such figures were routine — Berlin streetcar fares briefly exceeded 150 billion marks.
Stadt Dresden's notgeld series was printed locally, which kept turnaround times short but meant quality control varied across the run. Paper stock inconsistencies and minor typographic shifts between printings are not uncommon on these issues.
