| Obverse description | Central square perforation (方孔, fāng kǒng) surrounded by a raised inner rim, flanked on either side by two cast Chinese seal-script characters reading right to left: 銖 (Zhū) to the right of the hole and 五 (Wǔ) to the left, denoting the denomination of five zhu. The characters are rendered in the archaic seal script (篆書) characteristic of early Western Han coinage, with bold, raised strokes set against a flat field. A plain outer rim encircles the design. The overall workmanship reflects the early standardized Wu Zhu series introduced under Emperor Wu of Han. |

| Reverse description | Entirely plain and devoid of any inscription or decorative device, presenting only the raised inner square rim surrounding the central square perforation and a smooth, featureless field extending to the outer rim. This uniface reverse is characteristic of the earliest issues of the Western Han Wu Zhu series, prior to the addition of reverse markings in later emissions. The surface retains a dark olive-brown patina consistent with ancient cast copper. |
