Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin of standard round form with a central square perforation. The four-character inscription 永安五銖 (Yong An Wu Zhu) is arranged in the cardinal positions around the square hole, read top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the conventional Chinese fashion. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with bold, well-defined strokes in raised relief. A plain raised rim borders the outer edge, and a square raised rim frames the central hole; no inner or outer decorative elements are present in the fields.
