Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the national emblem of the People's Republic of China, depicting Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars and framed by ears of grain with a cogwheel at the base, rendered in high relief against a mirror-like proof field. The vertical legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) appears in Chinese characters along the left border of the rectangular flan. The year of issue, 2020, is inscribed in the lower right field. The overall composition is framed by a plain polished border consistent with the rectangular format.

Beschrijving keerzijde Central field depicts a frontal architectural elevation of one of the principal palatial halls of the Forbidden City (Palace Museum, Beijing), rendered in fine engraved detail with a broad ceremonial stairway descending toward the viewer and traditional double-eaved roof with upturned corners. Stylized auspicious cloud motifs flank the upper left and right corners of the composition, adding a classical decorative element. The inscription 紫禁城建成600年 (600th Anniversary of the Completion of the Forbidden City) is engraved in Chinese characters along the upper border. The denomination 5元 appears in the lower left field. The design is set within a highly polished proof field that accentuates the frosted architectural relief.
