| Opis rewersu | A finely detailed portrait of the celebrated Qing dynasty novelist Cao Xueqin is depicted in three-quarter view, seated and holding a manuscript scroll, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. To the left in the middle ground, an elaborate classical garden scene with pavilions, terraces, and elegantly robed female figures evokes imagery from his masterwork Dream of the Red Chamber. The legend 曹雪芹 (Cao Xueqin) arcs along the upper left in raised Chinese characters, followed by the birth and death years 公元 1715-1763年 continuing along the upper right.
