正面描述	The obverse depicts a detailed relief of Pyongyang's Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), a historic multi-tiered Korean pavilion gate rendered in fine architectural detail with sweeping eaves and stone foundations set against a landscaped background with stylised foliage. Two olive or laurel sprigs flank the central design at the lower left and right. The circular legend in Hangul script reads 조선민주주의인민공화국 (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) around the upper periphery. The denomination 2 원 (2 Won) appears in the lower field below the gate.
