| Reverse description | Central numeral '5' in a stylised typeface, set within a decorative wreath of traditional Turkmen floral and geometric ornaments rendered in low relief. The wreath and numeral are enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by a dotted border ring. The circular legend TÜRKMENISTANYÑ TEŇŇESI runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the date 1993 appears at the base flanked by two small ornamental star devices. The overall decorative vocabulary draws on Central Asian carpet and textile motifs. |

| Additional information |
Turkmenistan's 1993 coinage series was among the first acts of monetary independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, replacing the Russian ruble which had continued circulating during the transition period. The teňňe itself was introduced on November 1, 1993, at a rate of 500 rubles to one teňňe.
