Waterlow & Sons held the Peruvian printing contract through much of the mid-twentieth century, and this 1958 issue reflects the late period of that relationship — Waterlow would be absorbed by De La Rue just three years later, in 1961, effectively ending one of the older British security printing houses. Notes from this final stretch of Waterlow production are sometimes found with slightly inconsistent ink saturation, a known characteristic of the firm's declining years rather than post-issue wear.
The security thread here is a simple embedded strip, early by modern standards but already becoming expected practice for Peruvian issues by the late 1950s.
