| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Somaliland occupies the central field, depicting an eagle displayed with a shield on its breast, flanked by two scales of justice and a pair of clasped hands at the base, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel branches. Above the arms, Arabic script legend appears. The date 2016 is split across the lower field, with '20' to the left and '16' to the right of the wreath. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF SOMALILAND' arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination '5 SHILLINGS' is inscribed in the exergue along the lower rim. |

Somaliland has issued collector-oriented wildlife series since the early 2000s, targeting the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation — the territory's own economy runs largely on the Somaliland shilling, and these brass pieces were never intended as working currency. The Felis concolor designation is the outdated binomial for the puma; the species was reclassified to Puma concolor decades before this coin was struck, which makes the scientific name on the die already obsolete at the time of minting.
