The reign-era date in kanji is inscribed along the lower arc, reading 昭和十五年 (Shōwa Year 15, corresponding to 1940 for the final year of issue, with earlier years appearing on respective issues). The reverse composition is formally balanced, with the hole at centre integrating all design elements. |
