Obverse description Central device comprises the Sri Lanka national emblem, featuring the Sinhala lion passant holding a sword in its right forepaw, set within a circular medallion surrounded by a stylized sunburst and a wreath of petals. Below the central medallion rests a traditional Sinhalese pot of abundance (punkalas) flanked by petals and two cremation torches, all mounted on a stepped pedestal. A Dhamma Chakra (eight-spoked wheel of the Buddhist doctrine) surmounts the entire composition at the top. The field is plain and the coin is bordered by a raised denticulated rim.
