Issued to mark fifty years of Pakistani independence, this note was printed domestically by PSPC rather than contracted abroad — a point of quiet national pride for a security printing operation that had spent much of its earlier history dependent on foreign presses. By 1997, PSPC in Karachi had the capacity to handle commemorative runs entirely in-house.
The watermark is the sole listed security feature, which reflects the commemorative rather than high-security nature of the issue. Circulated examples are common; the note saw genuine use rather than being treated purely as a collector piece.
