Obverse description The obverse displays the national emblem of Sri Lanka at center, featuring a golden lion passant holding a sword, set within a roundel surrounded by a decorative border of petals and an outer ring of stylized lotus petals. Flanking the central emblem at the base are a sun disc to the right and a crescent moon to the left, with a traditional Sinhalese oil lamp (punkalasa) at the foot. The trilingual legend 'SRI LANKA' in Latin script appears to the left and the Sinhala script 'ශ්‍රී ලංකා' to the right, both arcing along the upper field. The date '2017' is inscribed in the lower field below the emblem.
