Beschrijving voorzijde The Ashoka Lion Capital, the national emblem of India, appears as an intaglio vignette to the right, set within a fine guilloche border. The large numeral '5' is printed at centre, flanked by the promise-to-pay text in English on the left and its Hindi equivalent on the right, with the issuer's name in both English and Devanagari script across the top. A watermark window occupies the left portion, and the Governor's signature with title appears below the central numeral, accompanied by the RBI monogram at bottom centre.

Beschrijving keerzijde A central intaglio vignette occupies the middle of the reverse, portraying a group of blackbuck antelopes in a naturalistic landscape setting with trees and ground cover rendered in fine line engraving. To the left, the denomination is repeated in fifteen regional language scripts within a vertical panel framed by guilloche scrollwork. At bottom centre, the Reserve Bank of India seal appears within an ornate circular cartouche, flanked by 'FIVE RUPEES' in English at lower left and the Hindi equivalent at lower right.
