| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central panoramic vignette of Nizwa city, with the Al Qala Mosque at center — its minaret and blue-domed prayer hall rendered in fine intaglio line work — flanked to the right by the massive stone walls of Nizwa Fort. The circular commemorative seal of the 40th National Day appears at upper center, surrounded by ornate guilloche scrollwork borders. Numeral '5' appears in the lower right and upper right corner panels, with the denomination 'FIVE RIALS' in a cartouche at the bottom. |

The "Independence" designation distinguishes this note from the standard 2010 series issue — the parallel release marked the 40th anniversary of Omani National Day, commemorating Sultan Qaboos bin Said's accession in 1970 and the formal rebranding of the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman. G+D's Leipzig facility has printed Omani currency across multiple series, a relationship built partly on the security infrastructure the printer brought to Gulf contracts from the 1970s onward.
Pick 44 is occasionally misattributed to the regular 2010 circulation run; the commemorative framing is the distinguishing factor, not any variation in physical production.
