Obverse description Purple and yellow on blue-green underprint. Central vignette of the Uaxactún vase at right, with a quetzal bird in flight above the numeral denomination at left. Black six-digit serial numbers printed in letterpress.

Reverse description Printed entirely in purple. A large central intaglio vignette reproduces the painting 'Choque de las Culturas Maya y Española', a dramatic battle scene between Spanish conquistadors and Maya warriors, framed by elaborate guilloche borders. Large numeral '5' counter-vignettes appear at both left and right within ornate geometric panels.
