Obverse description The upper central vignette carries a sailing ship flanked by dual serial number panels marked BELFAST and DUBLIN respectively, with the large word FIVE rendered in bold intaglio dominating the central field. A running guilloche border along the top and bottom margins lists the bank's branch locations in small letterpress text. The legend ESTABLISHED 1824 appears beneath the ship vignette, and the issuer's full title NORTHERN BANKING COMPANY LIMITED arcs across the upper portion of the note.
