| 表面の説明 | Within a raised circular border at center, the denomination '٥ جنيهات' (5 Pounds) is boldly rendered in Arabic naskh script against a recessed field. The circular legend surrounding the central device reads 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt) along the upper arc, with the Hijri date '١٤٤٤هـ' to the right and the Gregorian date '٢٠٢٣م' to the left. The Latin initialism 'NBE' appears in large raised letters along the lower portion of the field, identifying the issuing institution. |

The National Bank of Egypt, founded in 1898 under a British concession, operated as Egypt's central bank until 1961, when those functions were transferred to the newly established Central Bank of Egypt. Modern commemorative issues bearing the NBE name therefore invoke an institution that no longer holds monetary authority — a deliberate act of institutional nostalgia by the issuing state.
The .720 silver fineness places this coin in a long tradition of circulating-quality silver alloys, the same standard used in many mid-20th century Egyptian coinage issues before the country abandoned silver for base metals entirely in the late 1960s.
