Cairo University's Faculty of Law, founded in 1906, was the first secular law school in Egypt and became a principal training ground for the nationalist politicians and jurists who would negotiate — and eventually terminate — the British protectorate. This commemorative was issued as part of a broader Egyptian program marking institutional centenaries, a series that has produced numerous low-mintage silver pieces absorbed almost entirely by the domestic collector market.
