Beschrijving voorzijde The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Jody Clark, dominates the obverse as a right-facing crowned bust of the sovereign wearing the George IV State Diadem, a drop earring, and a draped neckline. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and crown elements characteristic of the proof finish. The circular legend reads ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 5 POUNDS · 2015 ·, with the engraver's initials J.C. incuse at the base of the truncation. The legend is set in evenly spaced serif capitals against a deeply mirrored field.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse, designed by Edwina Ellis, depicts a dramatic aerial-perspective composition commemorating British submarine warfare during the First World War. A D-class Royal Navy submarine — identified by the hull designation D4 — is shown surfaced and underway amid churning, textured waves rendered in fine relief. In the foreground, three torpedoes and a wheeled trolley used for loading ordnance are arranged prominently, emphasising the technological innovation of submarine warfare. The engraver's initials EE appear discreetly in the lower-central field. The inscription 1914 THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1918 arcs along the left side and base of the design in bold sans-serif capitals.
