| 背面描述 | A finely detailed scene depicting a railway signalman in period working dress, shown in three-quarter view straining to operate a large mechanical lever within a signal box. Behind him, a full bank of signal levers recedes in perspective to the right, while a signal diagram board is visible in the upper field background. The denomination FIVE POUNDS is inscribed vertically along the left field in raised lettering. The composition captures the industrial heritage of Victorian and Edwardian railway operations with strong relief and fine engraved detail throughout. |

Part of a broader British and Channel Islands commemorative push in the early 2000s honoring railway workers, this issue celebrates the signalman's role at a moment when that profession had largely vanished from British infrastructure — rail privatization and automated signaling through the 1980s and 1990s had made the manual signal box essentially obsolete by the time this coin was struck.
Guernsey has no railway of its own; the last narrow-gauge line on the island closed in 1934.
