正面描述 Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. The Queen is depicted with a draped bust, her likeness finely detailed against a mirror-field proof surface. The legend ELIZABETH II BAILIWICK OF JERSEY arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 2009 and the engraver's initials IRB appearing below the portrait.

附加信息

James Cook's three Pacific voyages, conducted between 1768 and 1779, were as much scientific expeditions as naval ones — the first carried astronomers to Tahiti to observe the transit of Venus for the Royal Society. Cook was killed at Kealakekua Bay in February 1779 during his third voyage, in a confrontation over a stolen cutter that escalated badly. Jersey issued this piece as part of a broader sea exploration commemorative program popular with Commonwealth mints in the late 2000s, when the market for themed silver proofs was at a particular peak.
