Additional information

Bomber Command remains one of the most politically awkward commemorations in British military history. The campaign cost over 55,000 aircrew lives — a higher casualty rate than any other Allied service branch — yet its veterans waited until 2012 for a dedicated national memorial in London, long after surviving airmen had lobbied for decades. Jersey's 2008 issue predates that recognition by four years.
